As Summer fades and Fall beckons, I always seem to re-find that interior inspiration that was so scant over the “outdoor months”. Last year we worked on the kitchen – taking down a wall, painting cabinets, redoing the floor, and putting in a new large central island. Believe it or not, that project, while mostly done, has been waiting for the finishing touches since the Forsythia started to bloom back in March. Part of the reason is that it’s now a three room proposition – kitchen, dining and TV are all now one – so the decoration of these really needs to blend together. I haven’t really known what I wanted to do – but luckily I picked up this book a few weeks back, Vintage Inspiration, by Kishani Perara that is helping lead the way.
I’m in love with the style of this book – casual, elegant, expressive, and inspiring all rolled into one – a combination that can be hard to create at times. While I’m still not sure-sure-sure of what to do, here are a few looks I like from the book that I’m mulling over.Read More »
Really enjoying the current issue of Design New England, which includes lots of gardens and interesting summer retreats this month. Among my favorites is the summer home of designer Nicole Yee. I like the casual style, with just a few touches of formality, like the curtains in the dining room and the striped chairs in the living room. The home has real world style! Here are my favorite pics, you can see them all here>>
